A Tail of Woe

Hello Friends,

It has been a while since I was here last, I apologize for that.  My weekend, including Friday, when I typically sit down to write my blog posts was pretty terrible.  Thursday afternoon my senior dog, Taco. who we believe to be between 11 and 14 years old, but don't know as he was abandoned, was diagnosed with Pancreatitis.  This was super scary for us as our last dog passed of this same affliction.  We also know that it is super painful.  Our vets office put him on fluids, low-fat diet, and some pain meds.  His first night at home was mildly uncomfortable, so we went back in the morning for some stronger meds.  The second night was a nightmare.  :(  He was super painful, panting, shivering, and crying.  At first we thought it was a function of the med he was on, as we read it can cause some anxiety, but after about an hour of not being able to calm him down at all we called the emergency vet and took him in.  They got him on some fluids and some really good pain medication.  He stayed with them for not quite 24 hours.  He came home Saturday night, and had a better, but still a bit of a restless night, because of what seemed to be anxiety.  So last night, we planned out his pain med dosing time, which he promptly slept through.  He was FINALLY comfortable after 4 miserable days, so we let him sleep.  He (and we, finally) slept through the night last night and he has been much more comfortable and less anxious today.  We opted for the milder pain medication at his lunch time, and he is again, sacked out somewhere in the house, resting, and hopefully, healing.  I feel like we all need about 2 weeks to recover from the miserable weekend, though.

Believe it or not, though, even with all of the trauma at the end of the week, and despite the fact that it has been 4 days since I even opened my studio door, I was able to get some work done last week!  I finished 2 quilt tops and 1 back!  I have others planned, but I was able to take out some fabric.  I am back over 100 yards added for the year, though...  Time to get some serious work done!  Another order coming in last night will help as well! :)  So here's what last week looked like:

Fabric in this week:  11 yards
Fabric out this week:  11.124 yards
Net Fabric this week:  -.124 yards
Net Fabric 2018:  104.721

I will have to look back and see if I ever got this far positive last year, I don't believe that I did.  So the prospect of finishing with negative yardage might be a failing one for this year, but I will keep at it.  For now, I should be off to whatever trouble I can muster up.  So until next time,

Piece and Long Arm
