Office Holiday Part-aaayyyy!
We're a small operation at GeekQuilter... It's really just me, and when I can steal him, my husband's MBA mind. So the office Christmas party, which was really to take place last Friday and didn't because my husband accidentally took my car keys, is taking place today, and consists of me working at the Local Coffee Shop. Yes, I work here as often as I can, mostly on Fridays. Their coffee is great, the food is awesome, and I usually don't have to fist fight anyone for a table near an outlet.
Since it is the Holiday Party, I popped for the breakfast sandwich AND the piece of coffee cake. Usually I pick one or the other. :) Mondays here seem to be a little lower-key. No loud hipster music or third dates. So far, I have not needed the headphones. I'm hoping it stays that way. The hardest part for me working at the LCS is that I am a hard-core people watcher, and it's super hard for me to stay focused on working. Shiny..............Oh, sorry, lost focus with my finger on the key! *wink*
So let's talk about quilting for a little bit. I spent the weekend working on a couple of new orders that came in, one on Saturday and one on Sunday... I am not guaranteeing Christmas delivery at this point, but I'm going to do my best to get them out in time. I have one top done completely and the other cut out ready to sew up. I'm not exactly sure where the recent boom in quilt sales has come from, but I am definitely NOT complaining! I had the fabric for both on hand, so after paying my Etsy bill (which was overdue, ugh), I have a nice tidy little sum to deposit in my bank account. I mean, definitely no bills are getting paid out of that account, but it will be some good pocket change for vacation.
Pictured at right is my latest finish, I actually got a picture snapped off before I shipped it out. But don't tell... It's a Christmas gift.
Don't you just love the pops of black with the pinks and blues? I think it's pretty posh looking if you ask me! Plus even though it's not super complicated, I did design it on EQ8. I even went out and got the correct Riley Blake fabric imported into EQ8 and put in the quilt. I am very close to being able to offer EQ8 lessons, if anyone is interested, please e-mail or comment on this post, I will get back to you ASAP! Ok, I have to be off, so until next time:
