Conversations with Non-Quilters

We've all had them, right?  How long does it take you to make that?  We kind of smile and tell them a cheeky sort of response, knowing that some quilts can literally come together in a day and some take a lifetime.  Another favorite of us quilters is "Will you make me a quilt?  I will give you (insert ridiculously low amount of money here)!"  I got a couple of really outside the box questions lately while I was hanging out with my family a few weeks ago.

My Dad asked me how many quilts I have in my house.  The answer is really not that many considering.  My husband and I each have one in the living room, then I have a Christmas quilt, and then there are only about four completed quilts that I haven't sold or given away.  I have one more that is complete save the binding, that will never leave my sight once it's done (I've been putting off finishing it because I don't want it to get used and ruined. :)

The other question that I got was from my brother, and it's not one that I usually get.  He asked me how many quilts I made this year.  So I had to think about it.  And since it's a good wrap up for the end of the year, I decided to wrap up with it.

So let's start with my sales:  I have made 9 baby sized quilts that I sold in my shop and 1 lap sized.  Then as gifts, I made one quilt that I sent to my favorite keyboard player, 2 Christmas gifts that shall remain secret for a bit longer.  I made only 1 wedding quilt this year, 2 baby gifts.  Then there is just one other quilt that I started and totally finished this year, that's my Hazel Hedgehog quilt.

So, those are just the ones that I started and finished this year (finished completely).  Now, I have 10 other quilts.  Seven other quilts that I have finished the top and back, that need to be quilted, and 3 that I have finished tops.

So all in all, in various sizes and states of completion, there I made 26 quilts this year.  I am fairly impressed with that number, to be honest with you!  So how about you?  What's your number for this year?  All answers are GREAT!  I know there are people who have made FAR more than me, and I would love to hear about your quilts even if you're a hobbiest who has made 1 or less than one this year!  Shout it loud, shout it proud!  All of the answers are right!  I'm heading off now, so until next time:
